Bypassing The Warning Message From macOS Gatekeeper

There is a quick way that lets you bypass the warning without diving into your System Settings.

When you double-click an unsigned app, macOS Gatekeeper blocks it and usually only gives you an option to move it to the Trash or Cancel. To easily override this, use the Right-Click Method:

The Quick Bypass

  1. Open Finder and locate the app.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) the app icon and select Open from the context menu.
  3. A different dialog box will appear. Instead of just “Cancel,” it will now feature an explicit Open button.
  4. Click Open, and macOS will save this app as an exception, letting it launch normally by double-clicking from now on.

Alternate Route: System Settings

If you already tried to open it normally and got blocked, you can also quickly grant permission from your settings:

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll down to the Security section.
  3. You will see a note saying "[App Name] was blocked..." Click the Open Anyway button right next to it.

⚠️ A quick safety reminder: Only do this if you completely trust where the software came from. Bypassing Gatekeeper allows the program to run with your user privileges, skipping the built-in malware scans macOS performs on notarized apps.
